LISE HAURUM is an artist and a writer. She is educated from Konstfack in Stockholm at the department of art and the school of creative writing Literary Composition at the University of Gothenburg. She works primarily with text, installations, and Artist’s books. Her works are influenced by natural science and she uses its methods. By mixing different medias, she creates narratives that collectively represent a larger context. The themes she works with are the ocean, the human and the nature.
In the poems of Lise Haurum the words correspond to pictures – surfaces, in a creation or evolutionary narrative where the fish ascend upon land and looks back at the frozen sea and the creatures that live beneath it, from which it is now separated. The question of what a human being really is, is asked in Lise’s texts. It is about changing elements – to suddenly be alienated from oneself. If one draws a parallel to the artistic work of Lise, the words become part of something bigger – words that are art. What the human being is, becomes clear when drawn. Even simplified to a matchstick man, the human always remains larger than its definition. – POET ELISE INGVARSSON
Beside her artistic work she has the publishing house Forlaget Bog and is part of the artist group Atwob. Lise Haurum is from Sæby in Northern Jutland in Denmark. She has for the last eight years been living in Sweden, but now she lives and works in Aarhus Denmark.
